The Background:
I took this photo in the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park in Washington. I could not believe how lush and green this scene was! What really stood out to me about this particular shot was the dead tree stump in the center. With all the surrounding vibrancy and life, you almost can’t tell that this tree is no longer alive – it seems to be supporting so much life on and around it and really added a dramatic element to the shot.
The Message:
Who and what we surround ourselves with can have such an impact on our state of mind. If we surround ourselves with negativity, there is a very good chance we will also feel that way. If we fill our lives with positivity and associate with others with a brighter outlook, we will also be impacted positively. This applies not only to the people around us, but also to how we use our inner voice. If we speak to ourselves, and about ourselves, in positive terms, we will see things more positively. So much of how we feel is affected or determined by our perspective and how we react and “speak” about it inside of our heads. To bring a feeling of vibrancy, joy and positivity, we must both surround ourselves with others who are positive and also speak to ourselves in a motivating and uplifting way. If we do both, we can tap into our true potential and appreciate the blessings that surround us every day.
