The Background:
I took this shot on the hike to Fall Creek Falls in Big Tujunga Canyon. I wanted to capture the flow of the water, so I added a Neutral Density Filter to my lens. This is basically sunglasses for the camera that allows you to take a longer exposure even in bright light. In this case, the longer exposure enabled me to capture the dramatic flow of the river and the churn of the water as it came off this small cascade.
The Message:
We tend to view life’s events as being objectively good or bad – but the truth is that we have our own filter that influences how we view everything. Our thoughts and attitudes influence how we perceive the events around us. While we may “see” the same sight, how we interpret things is almost entirely driven by our thoughts. If we maintain positive thoughts, we will see things in a more positive light. If we look for G-d’s hand in the world, chances are we will see it more often. Let us use our “filter” to uplift our vision looking for the positive and the divine in all that we experience.
