The Background:
I took this photo of the Watchman formation in Zion National Park along the Virgin River in the Fall. Well, technically, I took the picture in the Virgin River…
I was on a Fall Photography workshop and the other members of the group had all setup their cameras and tripods along the banks of the river. It was too crowded to join them there, so I put on my water shoes, rolled up my pants and decided to shoot directly from within the river. I think the location and perspective created a unique shot and really immersed the viewer in the scene.
The Message:
So much of life is dependent on our perspective. When we view the events around us and our situation only from our own viewpoint, we can often be frustrated or perceive things in a negative way. Sometimes we don’t need to change our reality, we just have to shift our perspective. Seeing things from the viewpoint of those around us, or viewing things within the broader picture, can often lead us to an entirely different interpretation of events. To do that, we may need to get out of our comfort zone and push ourselves to see things in a new way. But if we do, I believe that it will lead to a more positive view on life.
